'Petals of Peace' is an inspiring
initiative to preserve the timeless values of Truthfulness,
Compassion and Tolerance for our children and the future.
INTRODUCTION
'Petals of Peace' symbolises the hope for all the children
who are suffering during the on-going plight of Falun Gong in
China. Children all over the world are encouraged to fold a
paper lotus flower to help raise awareness about the suffering
of our most innocent and vulnerable. Every flower is a gesture
of hope that the unjust persecution will soon come to an end.
The 'Petals of Peace' project invites children
of all ages to fold a paper lotus flower as a gesture of peace
and friendship to other children. The lotus flowers are symbolic
of 'Petals of Peace' blossoming within our local community and
throughout the world.
This global project is a tangible way that
children can examine their own values and ideals to promote
a more peaceful world. Petals of Peace aims to encourage tolerance
towards cultural diversity and compassion for the suffering
of others. It is symbolic of extending the hand of friendship
to other innocent children less fortunate, like little Fadu.
Inspired by the story of a little Australian-Chinese
girl, Fadu, and her mother who are overcoming their painful
family tragedy by bravely sharing their heartfelt story in the
hope that other innocent children, like Fadu, will no longer
have to suffer injustice.
In every way the children are the innocent
ones. If we can all contribute to developing harmony and
international understanding, the world's children will look
forward to a brighter future. We hope this project will be a
step in that direction!
WHAT IS A LOTUS FLOWER?
The lotus flower symbolises the purity that can emerge from
cloudy waters and the hope which rises out of the most difficult
conditions. It is through the inspiration of the lotus flower
that we place our hope for justice.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
It is very simple - just contact a local volunteer to learn
how to fold a lotus flower or follow the instructions provided.
You might like to make it a class project in which all children
can participate.
