Chen Chengyong - Jane Dai's husband
was found dead in a hut in a suburb of Guangzhou, Guangdong
Province in July 2001.
Since 20 July 1999, Jane's entire
family has been persecuted by the Chinese Government simply
because they were Falun Gong practitioners. This year, Jane
read about her husband's death from a Falun Dafa web site:
www.clearwisdom.net.
Mr Chen Chengyong was an electrician
at the Guangzhou Paper Manufacturing Corporation. Because
he went to Beijing many times to appeal for Falun Gong,
he was forced to leave his job. In November 2000, to escape
from a forced brainwashing class, he left home and rented
a room in another place to live. It was there that his body
was found.
The exact time of his death and other
details are still unknown. When his elder sister went to
identify his remains, she found that Chen's body had undergone
significant decomposition, which indicated that he had been
dead for some time before the police notified the family.
When other Chinese practitioners called his family,
the phone was not answered by a family member, but by an
unfamiliar male voice. Instead of answering the phone normally
this person interrogated the
caller. It is speculated that he was a policeman.
